Analysis on quality of life and influencing factors of primary and secondary school teachers in Shanghai based on SF-36

Abstract: Objective To understand the quality of life of primary and secondary school teachers in Shanghai and analyze its influencing factors,providing a reference for formulating targeted intervention measures. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted from December 2020 to January 2021,using cluster sampling to select four primary and secondary schools in Shanghai.A questionnaire survey was conducted using the medical outcomes study(36-item short form health survey,SF-36) online survey for 638 teachers selected,and the data were analyzed. Results Among 638 primary and secondary school teachers in Shanghai,the physiological function dimension was (78.66±20.76)points,the physiological function dimension was (67.12±40.84)points,the physical pain dimension was (65.77±21.35)points,the general health status dimension was (55.28±20.28)points,the energy dimension was (65.34±18.43)points,the social function dimension was (80.45±18.50)points,the emotional function dimension was (64.05±42.88)points,and the mental health dimension was (67.25±17.35)points,all of which were lower than the norm of the general population in China(all P<0.01). Gender,age,marital status,educational level,health literacy,exercise time,sedentary status,and diet were the main factors affecting the quality of life of primary and secondary school teachers in Shanghai. Conclusions The quality of life of primary and secondary school teachers in Shanghai is low,and attention should be focused on the quality of life of married,female,and middle-aged teachers aged 40-50 years.Participating in health education,health management,developing good eating habits,actively participating in sports,and reducing sedentary time can help improve the quality of life of primary and secondary school teachers.
