Abstract:

Objective To investigate the relationship among work stressors, job burnout and presenteeism behavior for nursing staff, and explore the mediating effect of presenteeism behavior between work stressors and job burnout. Methods From July to August 2024,a convenience sampling method was used to select nursing staff from Tongzhou Maternal and Children Health Hospital as the research subjects. Nursing staff were investigated with job stressor scale, burnout inventory, presenteeism behavior questionnaire, and the correlation among nursing staff was analyzed. The mediating effect of presenteeism behavior was examined by testing procedures for mediating effects, and a structural model of work stressors, job burnout and presenteeism behavior were construct using SPSSAU to further verify the mediating effect of presenteeism behavior. Results The total score of job burnout of 190 nurses was (57.57±22.21)points,the total score of work stressors was (69.60±26.30)points,and the total score of presenteeism behavior was (5.06±2.16)points. The pearson correlation analysis results showed that nurses' work stressors were positively correlated with job burnout and presenteeism behavior(r=0.675,0.513,both P<0.05),and presenteeism behavior was positively correlated with job burnout(r=0.670,P<0.05).Presenteeism behavior played a mediating role between work stressors and job burnout, with a mediating effect value of 0.169 and an effect proportion of 31.88%,which was similar to the mediating effect proportion of the structural model(31.19%). Conclusion Work stressors and job burnout among nursing staff are at a medium level, and they exhibit high levels of presenteeism behavior. Presenteeism behavior as a mediating variable has an impact on job burnout.
