Research on current situation of innovative behavior among psychiatric nurses and its correlation with career development

Abstract: Objective To understand the influence of career development concept on innovative behavior of psychiatric nurses,provide reference for improving innovative behavior of psychiatric nurses. Methods From September to October 2023,268 nurses in a grade-A tertiary psychiatric hospital in Wuhu City of Anhui Province were investigated by the convenience sampling method with the general data questionnaire,career development concept scale and nurse innovation behavior scale(NIBS),and the data were analyzed. Results The total score of innovative behavior in 268 psychiatric nurses was (41.53±7.50)points,the total score of career development concept was (127.42±16.91)points,and the two were positively correlated(all P<0.01). There were statistically significant differences in the scores of innovative behavior among nurses with different monthly income and position(all P<0.01). All dimensions of career development concept and monthly income were the influencing factors of nurses' innovative behavior(all P<0.05). The innovative behavior ability of psychiatric nurses is in the middle level,and career development has a positive predictive effect on it. Conclusion The nursing managers should further strengthen the training of innovative thinking in nurses,create a hospital innovative cultural environment,give appropriate rewards and incentives to innovative nurses,improve their enthusiasm for nursing work,provide career development opportunities,and promote them to better devote themselves to innovative work.
