Abstract:

Objective To explore the influence of psychological capital and psychological contract on job burnout of pediatric nurses, analyze the intermediary role of psychological contract. Methods From November of 2019 to January of 2020, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among 206 pediatric nurses from three grade-A tertiary hospitals and three grade-B tertiary hospitals in Qingdao City. Psychological capital scale, psychological contract scale and job burnout scale were used for investigation, and the data were analyzed. Results The psychological capital score of pediatric nurses was 80.42±14.28, the psychological contract score was 91.46±16.28, and the job burnout score was 67.28±15.44. The psychological capital of pediatric nurses was negatively correlated with the job burnout(r=-0.589, P<0.01), the psychological contract was negatively correlated with the job burnout(r=-0.637, P<0.01), and the psychological capital was positively correlated with the psychological contract (r=0.652,P<0.01). The psychological contract partially mediated the relationship between psychological capital and job burnout of pediatric nurses. The direct and indirect effects of psychological capital on job burnout were -0.533 and -0.351, respectively. Conclusion Psychological capital has a direct negative predictive effect on the job burnout of pediatric nurses, and psychological contract has a negative intermediary effect between psychological capital and job burnout. It is necessary to improve the level of psychological capital and psychological contract of pediatric nurses, and then reduce their level of job burnout.
