Status quo and influencing factors of good death expectation of rural elderly people in Hunan Province

Abstract: Objective To understand current situation of good death expectation of rural elderly people in Hunan Province,analyze its influencing factors. Methods From July to September 2021,433 elderly people in six villages of Hunan Province were collected by the convenience sampling method as the investigation objects. A questionnaire survey was performed by the general data questionnaire,good death inventory,self-care ability scale of elderly people and filial piety expectation scale,and the data were analyzed. Results The average score of good death expectation of rural elderly people was (3.83±0.41)points,which was at the middle level. The scores of self-care ability of the elderly and filial piety expectation were positively correlated with good death expectation(both P<0.01). The age,education level,financial burden and the scores of self-care ability and filial piety expectation were the influencing factors of good death expectation of rural elderly people(all P<0.05). Conclusion The level of good death expectation of rural elderly people in Hunan Province should be improved,so it is necessary to develop the intervention measures to improve the level of self-care ability and filial piety expectation of the elderly,so as to enhance the quality of life of the elderly,finally achieve good death.
