Abstract: Objective To understand the patient safety attitude and work input of clinical nurses in six grade-A tertiary hospitals of Anhui Province, explore the correlation of patient safety attitude and work input, and provide relevant basis for clinical patient safety management. Methods Using random sampling method,1 411 nurses from six grade-A tertiary hospitals of Anhui Province were selected as the survey objects in October 2019. The nurse general data questionnaire, safety attitude scale(SAQ) and work input scale(the Utrecht work engagement scale,UWES-9) were used, and the data were analyzed. Results The total score of SAQ and UWES-9 was (111.11±15.05) and (28.02±8.80)points respectively. There was a significant positive correlation between nurses' patient safety attitude and work engagement(r=0.547,P<0.01). There were statistically significant differences in the score of patient safety attitude among nurses with different professional title, position, length of service, income, and have received patient safety training or not(all P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the score of work engagement among nurses with different age, length of service, education, professional title, position, department, income, have received patient safety training or not,and whether adverse events have occurred in the past year(all P<0.05). Conclusions The patient safety attitudes of nurses in six grade-A tertiary hospitals of Anhui Province is at a moderate level, and the work engagement is at a moderately low level. The nursing managers should take more effective measures to strengthen the safety training of nursing staff, show a positive attitude towards patient safety, and promote patient safety. At the same time,it is necessary to pay attention to the positive impact of nurses'enthusiasm on patientssafety attitude.
