Job burnout and its correlation with occupational life quality and personality characteristics of community nurses in Liuzhou City

Abstract: Objective To understand the current situation of job burnout of community nurses in Liuzhou City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,explore its relationship with occupational life quality and personality characteristics,so as to provide reference for reducing the loss of community nursing talents. Methods From July 2020 to June 2022,a total of 2 420 nurses from community health service centers in Liuzhou City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were selected by convenience sampling. The Chinese version of MBI-general survey(MBI-GS),quality of working life(QWL7-32) and Chinese version of Eysenck personality questionnaire-revised short scale(EPQ-RSC) were used to conduct the investigation,and the data were analyzed. Results The total score of job burnout of 2 420 community nurses in Liuzhou City was (48.90±11.73)points. The job burnout was negatively correlated with occupational life quality,and positively correlated with psychoticism and neuroticism(r=-0.195,0.137,0.178,all P<0.01). The age,gender,marital status,working years,whether in the establishment,occupational life quality,neuroticism,internal and external tendencies,and psychoticism were the main influencing factors of job burnout of community nurses(all P<0.05). Conclusions The job burnout of community nurses in Liuzhou City is at a medium level. The job burnout is clearly correlated with the occupational life quality and personality characteristics. The higher the occupational life quality,the lower the level of psychoticism and neuroticism,and the lower the job burnout. The managers should pay attention to the job burnout of community nurses who are young,male,divorced,working years of 5-10 years,and unofficial employment,actively take effective intervention measures to improve the occupational life quality of community nurses,and improve their personality characteristics of psychoticism and neuroticism,so as to reduce the level of job burnout of community nurses.
