Abstract: Currently, population aging is showing a rapid upward trend. The decline of the elderly's physical function and the development of the emerging Internet have led to a serious shortage of social networks for the elderly, which has led to health problems for the elderly. The shrinking of social network of the elderly interacts with social and cultural factors in different environments. Therefore, this article elaborates on the concept of social networks and uses ecosystem theory as a framework to comprehensively summarize the relationship between social network and health status of the elderly from micro, meso, and macro perspectives. Finally, from the perspective of ecosystem theory, management measures and intervention plans for the shrinking of social networks among the elderly are proposed,in order to increase the attention of communities and nursing staff to the shrinking of social networks among the elderly and ensure effective health interventions for them.
