Abstract:

Objective To investigate the current status of boundary flexibility,work-family conflict and work-family balance of obstetrics and gynecology nurses, and to analyze the impact of boundary flexibility and work-family conflict on work-family balance. Methods From September to October 2024,184 obstetrics and gynecology nurses from 9 grade-A tertiary hospitals in Shanghai were selected as the survey subjects by simple random sampling. The boundary flexibility scale,work-family conflict scale and work-family balance scale were used to evaluate the impact of boundary elasticity and work-family conflict on work family-balance levels. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between boundary elasticity,work-family conflict, and work-family balance among obstetrics and gynecology nurses. The mediation effect test method was used to analyze the mediating effect of work-family conflict on the boundary elasticity and work-family balance of obstetrics and gynecology nurses. Results The boundary flexibility score of obstetrics and gynecology nurses was (48.33±8.84)points,the work-family conflict score was (52.48±9.64)points,and the work-family balance score was (55.86±9.37)points. The influencing factors of work-family balance of obstetrics and gynecology nurses were age, years of work experience, professional title, marital status, average monthly income, and average number of night shifts per month(all P<0.05). There was a positive correlation between boundary flexibility and work-family balance among obstetric and gynecological nurses(r=0.608,P<0.01),a negative correlation between work-family conflict and work-family balance(r=-0.542,P<0.01),and a negative correlation between boundary flexibility and work-family conflict(r= -0.584,P<0.01). Work-family conflict played a partial mediating role between boundary flexibility and work-family balance among obstetric and gynecological nurses, with a mediating effect value of 0.254,accounting for 42.55% of the total effect. Conclusion Work-family conflict played a partial mediating role between boundary flexibility and work-family balance among obstetric and gynecological nurses. Improving the level of boundary flexibility of obstetric and gynecological nurses and reducing their level of work-family conflict are conducive to improving their work-family balance.
