Analysis on current status and influencing factors of knowledge,attitude,practice of occupational protection of chemotherapeutic drugs among medical staff

Abstract:

Objective To investigate the current status of knowledge,attitude,practice of medical staff on the occupational protection of chemotherapeutic drugs,and analyze its influencing factors,so as to provide reference for the management of occupational protection of clinical chemotherapeutic drugs. Methods Convenience sampling was used to conduct a survey of medical staff in a grade-A tertiary comprehensive hospital in Shenzhen City from November to December 2023,using a general information questionnaire and a clinical chemotherapeutic drugs occupational protection knowledge,attitude,practice questionnaire. Univariate analysis and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the factors influencing the knowledge,attitude,and practice level in chemotherapy drug occupational protection among medical staff. Results A total of 339 medical staff were ultimately included,with a questionnaire response rate of 98.3%. The scores for knowledge,attitude,and practice regarding occupational protection against chemotherapy drugs among medical staff were (29.01±2.68),(12.62±1.52) and (21.07±2.05)points,respectively,with corresponding awareness rates of 80.6%,positive attitude rates of 78.9%,and health-promoting behavior rates of 75.3%. Quarterly training positively influenced the scores for knowledge,attitude,and practice dimensions,while non-oncology departments negatively influenced these dimensions(both P<0.05). Years of work in the pharmacy intravenous admixture service(PIVAS) positively influenced the knowledge dimension score,belonging to the pharmacy department and years of work positively influenced the attitude dimension score,belonging to the pharmacy department positively influenced the practice dimension score,while educational level negatively influenced the practice dimension score(all P<0.05). Conclusion The knowledge,attitude and practice of medical staff in a grade-A tertiary hospital in Shenzhen City on occupational protection against chemotherapy drugs are at a medium level,and need to be improved. We should give full play to the support of departmental resources,carry out effective training and reasonably utilize the method of transferring and assisting to improve the level of occupational protection against chemotherapeutic drugs of medical staff,so as to protect the occupational health of medical staff.
