Abstract:

Objective To investigate the current health related quality of life(HRQoL) status of the occupational population in Nanjing City, and provide some reference for improving the HRQoL of the occupational population. Methods A multi-stage random sampling method was used to randomly select permanent residents aged 30-<60 years in five administrative districts of Nanjing City in 2023 for investigation. The social demographic information, lifestyle and behavior, major chronic disease history, and family history of the survey subjects were collected. The SF-12 scale was used to measure the HRQoL for each participant, and multi factor analysis of variance was introduced to compare the differences in HRQoL between different occupations. Results The average scores of SF-physical component summary(PCS) and SF-mental component summary(MCS) for 22 340 study subjects were (55.94±4.90) and (40.44±4.79)points,respectively. There were statistically significant differences in SF-PCS scores between different age, gender, place of residence, education level, marital status, and body mass status(all P<0.05),while no statistically significant differences in SF-MCS scores between these variables(all P>0.05). The SF-PCS scores for unemployed or domestic workers, industrial workers, business or service industry practitioners, government officials, and technical personnel were (54.02±6.30),(56.36±4.48),(56.33±4.51),(56.03±4.65) and (56.16±4.71)points,respectively,and multivariate analysis of variance showed that there was a statistically significant difference in SF-PCS scores among different occupational categories(F=50.176,P<0.01). Meanwhile, the SF-MCS scores for unemployed or domestic workers, industrial workers, business or service industry practitioners, government officials, and technical personnel were (40.65±5.12),(40.65±4.85),(40.42±4.89),(40.20±4.65) and (40.48±4.56)points,respectively,with statistically significant differences(F=6.738,P<0.01). Conclusion In 2023,the overall HRQoL of the occupational population in Nanjing City is in a moderate to low state, and different occupational groups have different scores.
