Mediating effect of team psychological safety climate on the relationship between psychological violence and job withdrawal behavior among emergency nurses in Nantong City

Abstract:

Objective To understand the current situation of psychological violence,work withdrawal,and team psychological safety climate among emergency nurses in Nantong City,and to explore the mediating effect of team psychological safety climate on the relationship between psychological violence and job withdrawal behavior among emergency nurses. Methods From March to July 2024,286 emergency nurses in Nantong City were selected by convenience sampling method as research subjects. The general information questionnaires,workplace psychologically violent behaviors instrument,team psychological safety climate scale,and job withdrawal behavior scale were used for questionnaire surveys,and the data were analyzed. Results The psychological violence score of 286 emergency nurses in Nantong was (28.09±8.60)points,the team psychological safety climate score was (55.77±9.55)points,and the job withdrawal behavior score was (21.06±5.02)points. The team psychological safety climate of the emergency nursing team was negatively correlated with psychological violence and job withdrawal behavior(r=-0.412,-0.528,both P<0.01),while psychological violence was positively correlated with job withdrawal behavior(r=0.488,P<0.01). The team psychological safety climate partially mediates the relationship between psychological violence and job withdrawal behavior among emergency nurses,and the mediating effect was 0.145,accounting for 29.35% of the total effect. Conclusion Psychological violence among emergency nurses in Nantong can directly affect their job withdrawal behavior,and can also indirectly affect job withdrawal behavior through the team psychological safety climate.
