Abstract: Objective To investigate the level of mastery of occupational health related knowledge among the occupational population in printing industry, improve the working environment for employees, and provide a basis for targeted interventions on employees' risk factors. Methods Totally 179 employees from 10 printing companies in Beijing were selected to conduct an occupational health knowledge questionnaire survey, and the data were collected and analyzed. Results The average score of occupational health related knowledge among 179 workers was(15.0±3.0)points,and 81.0%(145 people) of the surveyed subjects reached the qualified level of occupational health related knowledge. There were statistically significant differences in the scores of occupational health related knowledge among personnel with different educational level, weekly working hours, and whether they had participated in occupational health training(all P<0.05). The gender, educational level, weekly working hours, and occupational health training all had an impact on awareness(all P<0.05),while age and work intensity had no impact on awareness(all P>0.05). The main ways for research subjects with different cultural levels and age groups to obtain occupational health related knowledge included communication with colleagues, books, newspapers, television and audiovisual materials, professional lectures, and bulletin boards. Among them, employees with middle and high school/vocational school education levels mainly obtained knowledge through books and newspapers, employees with college/undergraduate education levels mainly obtained knowledge through bulletin boards, employees aged 18-<35 year-old mainly obtained knowledge through books and newspapers, employees aged 35-<45 year-old mainly obtained knowledge through bulletin boards, and employees aged >45 year-old mainly obtained knowledge through television and audiovisual materials. Conclusions The gender, educational level, working hours, relevant training may be influencing factors on workers' awareness of occupational health knowledge. Different educational levels and age groups of workers have different ways of acquiring occupational health related knowledge. The targeted health interventions should be carried out for workers with different characteristics, and occupational health knowledge should be publicized and popularized in multiple ways to protect the physical and mental health of workers.
