Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship between mobile phone addiction, negative emotions, and subjective well-being among college students at a medical college in Xinjiang, and to provide reference for promoting the mental health of college students. Methods From September to October 2021,a stratified random cluster sampling was conducted to survey 956 college students using the mobile phone addiction inventory(MPAI),depression anxiety stress scale-21(DASS-21),and general well-being schedule(GWB),and the data were analyzed. Results The average GWB score of college students was (71.53±12.72)points,and the rate of mobile phone addiction was 42.8%. Negative emotion could directly predict subjective well-being(β=-0.726,P<0.01),and the proportion of uncontrolled and inefficient mediating effects of mobile phone addiction were 10.86% and 15.81%,respectively. Conclusion Mobile phone addiction plays a partial mediating role between negative emotions and subjective well-being. The university can promote the improvement of subjective well-being among college students by preventing and controlling mobile phone addiction.
