Prevalence of insomnia among front-line healthcare workers fighting against COVID-19 during COVID-19 epidemic in China:A meta-analysis

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the prevalence of insomnia among front-line healthcare workers fighting against coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) in China through a meta-analysis system,provide a basis for improving insomnia among medical staff. Methods The cross-sectional studies on the prevalence of insomnia among front-line healthcare workers fighting against COVID-19 during COVID-19 pandemic in China were retrieved in CNKI,WanFang Data,VIP,PubMed,Embase and web of science databases,and the retrieval time was from December 2019 to April 2022. R software was used for meta-analysis,and the results were analyzed for publication bias and sensitivety analysis. Results A total of 30 studies with 18 075 participants met the inclusion criteria for the analysis,including 10 027 people with insomnia. The prevalence of insomnia among front-line healthcare workers in China was 54.5%[95%CI(47.6%,61.4%)]. The prevalence of insomnia among healthcare workers who are female,married,intermediate professional title,bachelor degree or below,ageed <26 years old,doctor,fighting against the epidemic in Hubei Province,using self-made questionnaire to evaluate insomnia was relatively high. Conclusion The prevalence of insomnia among front-line healthcare workers during the COVID-19 epidemic in China is high,and measures should be taken to prevent and control insomnia.
