Abstract: Objective To investigate the current situation of negative emotions among clinical nurses in grade-A tertiary hospitals in Sichuan Province and analyze its influencing factors. Methods From February to May 2023,a convenience sampling method was used to select 1 393 clinical nursing staff from multiple grade-A tertiary hospitals in Sichuan Province as the research subjects. We conducted a survey using a general information questionnaire, irritability depression and anxiety scale(IDA) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI). Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of negative emotions among clinical nurses. Results Out of 1 393 clinical nurses,745(53.5%) had symptoms of depression,617(44.3%) had symptoms of anxiety,458(32.9%) had symptoms of internal irritation, and 459(33.0%) had symptoms of extroverted irritation. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that working years, relationship with medical staff in the department, family relationship and sleep quality entered the regression equation(all P<0.01),which could explain 32.1% of the total variation in negative emotions among nurses. Conclusion The incidence of anxiety, depression and irritability among clinical nurses is relatively higher. Long working years, poor relationships with medical staff in the department, poor family relationships, and poor sleep quality are the main influencing factors for negative emotions. Managers should develop effective incentive measures to create a warm and harmonious working atmosphere for nurses, promote healthy lifestyles through multiple channels, provide psychological adjustment education for those with negative emotions, reduce the occurrence of negative emotions among nurses, improve the psychological health level of clinical nurses, and thus enhance the quality of nursing care.
