Analysis on status and influencing factors of self-compassion among undergraduate nursing students

Abstract: Objective To investigate the current situation of self-compassion among undergraduate nursing students and analyze its influencing factors. Methods From August to September 2023,265 undergraduate nursing students from a university in Tianjin were selected using the convenience sampling method. They were surveyed using a general information questionnaire,self-compassion scale,emotional intelligence scale and perceived social support scale,and the data were analyzed. Results The self-compassion score of 265 undergraduate nursing students was (87.14±13.67)points. The emotional intelligence and perceived social support were the influencing factors for self-compassion of undergraduate nursing students(P<0.05). Conclusion Totally 265 undergraduate nursing students from a university in Tianjin have a moderate level of self-compassion,which is influenced by emotional intelligence and perceived social support,and the nursing educators should take appropriate intervention measures based on influencing factors to enhance the self-compassion level of undergraduate nursing students.
