Abstract: Objective To explore the influencing factors of the willingness to use pre-exposure prophylaxis(PrEP) for men who have sex with men(MSM) in China by means of meta-analysis. Methods A systematic search was conducted on the literature related to the factors influencing the willingness to use PrEP among Chinese MSM,published in databases such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang,China Biomedical Literature Database,VIP,the Cochrane Library,Web of Science,PubMed,and Embaseup to June 6,2023. The cross-sectional evaluation criteria recommended by the agency for healthcare research and quality(AHRQ) in the United States were used to evaluate the quality of the literature, and the Stata 15.0 software was used for meta-analysis. Results A total of 26 articles were included, involving a sample size of 22 711 cases. Meta analysis was conducted on 3 or more articles with the same influencing factors. The results showed that remarriage or cohabitation with women(OR=2.145,95%CI:3.270-1.521),registered residence registration in other provinces(OR=1.706,95%CI:1.393-2.089),occupation as a student(OR=1.407,95%CI:1.061-1.864),awareness of PrEP(OR=2.790,95%CI:1.973-3.944),high level of personal risk perception of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)(OR=3.245,95%CI:1.535-6.869),aving received diagnosis of HIV/AIDS in the past year(OR=1.909,95%CI:1.54-2.365),having a fixed sexual partner(OR=1.825,95%CI:1.405-2.370),and persisting in using condoms in the past six months(OR=0.409,95%CI:0.199-0.839) were the influencing factors of the willingness to use PrEP among Chinese MSM. Conclusion The MSM who remarried or cohabited with a female, had a registered residence in a non survey city, had a student occupation, knew PrEP,had a high level of personal HIV risk perception, had a fixed sexual partner, and had been tested for HIV in the past one year were more likely to take preventive drugs before exposure, while the MSM who insisted on using condoms in the past six months were less likely to take preventive drugs before exposure. Corresponding intervention strategies should be implemented for the target population to improve the practical use of PrEP.
