Abstract: Objective To investigate the level of quality of life(QOL),depression, and active coping style among medical staff in grade-A tertiary hospitals in Shanxi Province, and explore the relationship between them. Methods By using the convenience sampling method, the medical workers from five grade-A tertiary hospitals in Shanxi Province were selected from October to December 2021,the online survey was performed with the general situation questionnaire,self-rating depression scale,World Health Organization quality of life(WHOQOL-BREF),and simple coping style questionnaire(SCSQ),and the data were analyzed. Results The average scores of the depression,QOL,and active coping style of medical staff in five grade-A tertiary hospitals in Shanxi Province were (7.87±5.67),(51.45±8.75) and (21.30±8.08)points,respectively.The correlation analysis showed that the total score and each dimension score of QOL were negatively associated with depression and positively associated with the score of active coping style(all P<0.01). The active coping style partially mediated the relationship between depression and QOL of medical staff, and the mediating effect accounted for 14.2% of the total effect. Conclusions The depression has a direct negative predictive effect on the QOL of medical staff, and the active coping styleplays a partial mediating role between depression and QOL in medical staff. The hospital management departments can improve the quality of life of medical staff by cultivating and improving their mental health and active coping level.
