Abstract: Objective To establish a method for the determination of 24 volatile organic compounds(VOCs) in whole blood by headspace-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). Methods The VOCs in blood samples were separated by column after headspace injection, and detected by GC-MS. Results The linear relationship of 24 kinds of VOCs in blood was good in the range of 10.0-3 000.0 ng/mL,the correlation coefficients were higher than 0.999 4,the detection limit was 0.2-10.0 ng/mL,the recovery rate was 78.7%-116.4%,and the relative standard deviation was 0.9%-8.3%. The samples could be preserved at 4 or -25 ℃ for three days. Conclusion This method is simple, accurate, and highly sensitive, which is suitable for the detection of volatile organic compound in whole blood of occupational exposure persons and poisoning patients.
