Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between obesity and hypertension risk in primary and middle school students measured by different indicators. Methods The computer retrieval on PubMed,Web of Science,CNKI,Wanfang, and VIP databases was performed, with a search deadline of August 2021. The meta-analysis was conducted by using Stata15.1 software. Results A total of 23 studies were included. The correlation between obesity body mass index(BMI)(OR=3.85,95%CI:3.32-4.47) and hypertension in primary and middle school students was more significant than that in waist circumference(WC)(OR=3.10, 95%CI:2.49-3.85),waist-to-hip ratio(WHR)(OR=1.90,95%CI:1.23-2.95). The risk of hypertension among primary and middle school students in urban areas was 4.93 times higher than that in rural areas(OR=4.93,95%CI:3.27-7.43). Conclusions The obesity in primary and middle school students is associated with hypertension risk, mainly in primary and middle school students with BMI obesity. It is necessary to strengthen the screening of obesity in primary and middle school students and carry out health education to prevent the occurrence of obesity and hypertension in primary and middle school students.
