Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between professional self-concept and career maturity of nursing undergraduates before clinical practice in Shaanxi Province, provide references for promoting their career maturity. Methods From May to June 2020,589 nursing undergraduates who will start clinical practice in 4 undergraduate nursing colleges in Shaanxi Province were selected as survey subjects by convenient sampling method. The data were collected by means of general information questionnaire, nursing professional self-concept scale, and career maturity scale, and the correlation between status of professional self-concept and career maturity were analyzed. Results The total score of professional self-concept of nursing undergraduates before practice was (85.81±10.76)points,and the total score of career maturity was (108.44±11.24)points. There was a positive correlation between professional self-concept and career maturity(r=0.463,P<0.01). The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that three dimensions of professional self-concept,including management ability, satisfaction and communication ability, were included in the influencing factor model of career maturity of nursing students before practice(F=64.827,P<0.01),which could independently explain 24.6% variation of career maturity. Conclusion The higher level of professional self-concept of nursing undergraduates before clinical practice, the higher level of professional maturity,so the nursing educators should pay attention to the cultivation and improvement of professional self-concept of nursing students to promote the career maturity of nursing undergraduates before practice.
