Abstract: Objective To understand the current situation of innovative behavior of infection prevention and control professionals (IPCPs) in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,so as to provide a basis for further improving the innovative behavior of IPCPs. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2022 to November 2022 in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,in which a questionnaire consisting of a general information questionnaire and an innovation behavior scale was administered to 505 IPCPs from 256 secondary and tertiary medical institutions. Results The total score of innovative behavior of the IPCPs was (35.92±6.58)points,with the highest score on the idea generation dimension[(3.79±0.66)points] and the lowest score on the gaining support dimension[(3.43±0.72)points]. The results of the univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in the scores of each dimension of innovative behavior among the IPCPs with different health status, hospital level, hospital nature, years of work in the hospital infection management, whether they had a training certificate in hospital infection management, the number of times they attended training related to hospital infection management in the last six months, their average monthly income, the publication of papers about hospital infection in the last five years, and whether they presided over or participated in research projects related to hospital infection(all P<0.05). The results of the multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that the factors influencing the innovative behavior of the IPCPs were,in order of importance, whether they had a training certificate in hospital infection management, the nature of the hospital, the level of the hospital, their health status, and their average monthly income(β=-0.140,-0.127,0.118,0.117,0.094,all P<0.05). Conclusions The level of innovative behavior of IPCPs in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is at a medium level and there is much room for improvement. It is recommended that training and organizational support on innovative knowledge related to infection control should be strengthened to cultivate the innovative behavior of IPCPs,so as to improve the quality of hospital infection management.
