Abstract: Objective To explore the mediating effect of alexithymia on the intensity of Tiktok use and social withdrawal in college students. Methods From October to December 2023,935 college students were selected from two universities in Wuhu City of Anhui Province by convenient sampling method, and tested with the twenty-item Toronto alexitymiascale(TAS-20),Tiktok usage intensity scale and the social withdrawal scale, and the data were analyzed. Results The total scores of alexithymia, social withdrawal and Tiktok using intensity scale were (56.36±8.11),(49.71±10.86) and (17.89±5.79)points,respectively.The intensity of Tiktok use was positively correlated with social withdrawal and alexithymia(r=0.18,0.23,both P<0.01). The intensity of Tiktokuse had a significant direct prediction effect on social withdrawal(β=0.19,P<0.01). Alexithymia played a partial mediating role in the relationship between the intensity of Tiktok use and social withdrawal(effect size=0.114,95%CI:0.032-0.094),and the mediating effect accounted for 58.76% of the total effect. Conclusion The intensity of Tiktok use can not only directly affect social withdrawal, but also indirectly affect social withdrawal through the mediating role of alexithymia.
