Abstract: Objective To assess the health risks of inhaling metals and metalloids in fine particulate matter(PM2.5) in Zhenjiang City. Methods Dantu District of Zhenjiang City was selected as the monitoring site. Air PM2.5 samples were collected on the 10th to 16th day of each month from 2019 to 2021,and the contents of 12 metals and metalloids were determined. Health risk assessment was conducted according to the Technical Specifications for Health Risk Assessment of Atmospheric Pollution(WS/T 666-2019). Results From 2019 to 2021,the health risks of antimony, aluminum, beryllium, mercury, lead, manganese, nickel, and selenium in atmospheric PM2.5 in Zhenjiang City were at an acceptable level under the current exposure level. The hazard quotient(HQ) of non-carcinogenic risks of arsenic, cadmium, and chromium(six valence) were all less than 1,and the excess carcinogenic risk(ECR) of arsenic was 2.288×10-6-3.057×10-6,the excess carcinogenic risk of cadmium was 0.185×10-6-0.277×10-6,and the excess carcinogenic risk of chromium(six valence) was 0.288×10-6-0.660×10-6. Conclusion Arsenic in atmospheric PM2.5 in Zhenjiang City has potential carcinogenic risks to the population.
