Abstract:

Objective To explore the effect of work-family value consistency on job burnout in general surgery nurses, and to study the mediating role of work-family conflict between work-family value consistency and job burnout. Methods From August to September 2024,nurses from the general surgery departments of 11 grade-A tertiary hospitals in Jiangsu Province were randomly selected as the survey subjects. The work-family value consistency scale,work-family conflict scale and job burnout scale were used for investigation, and the data were analyzed. Results The work-family value consistency score of general surgery nurses was (14.35±3.12)points,the work-family conflict score was (60.42±12.51)points,and the job burnout score was (62.86±11.32)points. There were statistically significant differences in job burnout scores among different age, professional title, years of work experience, average monthly income, average number of nights per month, and marital status(all P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in work-family value consistency scores and work-family conflict scores among different age, professional title, years of work, average monthly income, and average number of nights per month(all P<0.05). The job burnout of general surgery nurses was negatively correlated with the work-family value consistency(r=-0.586,P<0.01),and positively correlated with work-family conflict(r=0.625,P<0.01).The work-family value consistency was negatively correlated with work-family conflict(r=-0.639,P<0.01).The work-family value consistency of general surgery nurses could directly predict job burnout, and could also indirectly predict job burnout through work-family conflict, with an indirect effect value of -0.288,accounting for 41.14% of the total effect. Conclusion General surgery nurses with higher work-family values consistency have lower work-family conflict and burnout levels. Work-family values consistency of general surgery nurses can affect burnout directly or through the mediating effect of work-family conflict.
