Abstract: Objective To understand the status of competence-face stress, job crafting and occupational burnout of nurses in cardiac surgery and analyze their correlation. Methods Nurses in cardiac surgery from 8 grade-A tertiary hospitals in Hubei Province were selected as the research subjects by simple random sampling from February to June 2024. The competence-face stress scale, job crafting scale and occupational burnout scale were used to investigate, and the data were analyzed. Results The competence-face stress score of nurses in cardiac surgery was (14.28±2.75)points,the job crafting score was (90.34±15.28)points, and the occupational burnout score was (60.36±10.84)points. The influencing factors of competence-face stress of cardiac surgery nurses were gender, age, education, professional title, years of work, average monthly income and average number of night shifts per month(all P<0.05). The influencing factors of job crafting were age, professional title, years of work, average monthly income, average number of night shifts per month and marital status(all P<0.05). The influencing factors of job burnout were age, professional title, years of work, average monthly income and average number of night shifts per month(all P<0.05). The job burnout of cardiac surgery nurses was positively correlated with competence-face stress(r=0.673,P<0.01),job crafting was negatively correlated with job burnout(r=-0.592,P<0.01),and competence-face stress was negatively correlated with job crafting(r=-0.622,P<0.01). Job crafting played a partial mediating role between competence-face stress and job burnout of cardiac surgery nurses, with a mediating effect of 0.257,accounting for 43.93% of the total effect. Conclusion Competence-face stress and job crafting of cardiac surgery nurses in 8 grade-A tertiary hospitals in Hubei Province are closely related to job burnout. Job crafting partially mediates the relationship between competence-face stress and job burnout. Improving the level of job crafting on the basis of reducing competence-face stress is conducive to alleviating the job burnout.
