Research progress on influencing factors of nurse burnout

Abstract: Burnout is a widespread public health issue in society. Nursing staff,as a group with high workload,heavy professional pressure,and close interaction with patients,have a high incidence of burnout. The influencing factors of nursing burnout are complex,and the complex interactions among these factors jointly affect the level of nursing burnout. This article reviews the external and internal factors that influence nursing burnout,the external factors include age and length of service,family and marriage,sleep and night shift frequency,education and professional title,hospital grade and department,and salary and social support,and the internal factors include gender,psychological characteristics,personality traits,and coping styles. This article provides a review of the factors that influence nursing burnout,which can provide theoretical references for developing intervention strategies for nursing burnout in the future and clinical nursing practice.
