Research progress of virtual/augmented reality technology in health management of chronic diseases

Abstract

Abstract: The virtual reality and augmented reality technologies are rapidly developing. The virtual reality technology simulates a 3D virtual environment through computers,allowing participants to have an immersive experience and obtain multi sensory feedback such as visual,auditory,and motion perception. The augmented reality technology overlays computer-generated digital information in real time on the real world to enhance participants' perceptual interaction with the real world. At present,the virtual/augmented reality technology is widely used in chronic disease health management. This paper summarizes the concept and application mode of virtual/augmented reality technology,its application in chronic disease health management,such as disease screening and evaluation,rehabilitation intervention,patient education,lifestyle optimization,and its existing shortcomings and suggestions,aiming at providing reference and guidance for developing virtual/augmented reality systems suitable for Chinese culture and patient needs,cultivating medical professionals who master virtual/augmented reality technology,and promoting the sustainable develo pment of virtual/augmented reality technology in chronic disease health management.
