Abstract: Objective Through the predictive analysis and evaluation of the radiation protection in the iodine treatment project of the nuclear medicine department of a hospital in Panjin City,to understand the level of radiation protection the iodine treatment project. Methods In October 2021,the theoretical calculation method and the comprehensive analysis method were used for the radiation protection shielding calculation and dose estimation of protective measures and facilities against radioactive occupational hazards in iodine treatment workplace of nuclear medicine department of a hospital in Panjin City. Results The radioactive occupational hazard factors in this project were the radiopharmaceuticals containing Na131I,γ-ray emitted by the decay of nuclilide Na131I,and the subjects who have taken 131I radioactive drugs. The estimate results showed that the annual equivalent dose of whole body(0.01 mSv/a),eye lens(0.01 mSv/a),hand(0.04 mSv/a) of nurses and physicians in iodine treatment work area were lower than the national occupational dose limit and annual dose management target value. Conclusions The overall shielding design of the iodine treatment work area is reasonable, but there is a high dose rate outside the protection door of some individual functional rooms. For areas with high dose rate,it is recommended management should be strengthened and people should not stay for a long time.
