Analysis on sanitary condition of public appliances in public places in Changzhou City from 2017-2019

Abstract:

Objective To understand the sanitary quality of public appliances in public places in Changzhou City,provide scientific basis for sanitary supervision and management. Methods The sanitary quality of public appliances in public places in Changzhou City from 2017-2019 was investigated, the samples were collected for the detection of microbiological indicators, and the results were statistically analyzed by SPSS 18.0 software. Results The total qualified rate of public appliances in public places in Changzhou City from 2017-2019 was 83.1%(865/1 041), while the annual qualified rate of public appliances was respectively 89.3% (209/234),74.9%(311/415) and 88.0%(345/392), and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=32.80, P<0.01). The qualified rate of public appliances in hotel industry, bath industry and beauty and hairdressing industry was respectively 76.2%(307/403), 87.7%(199/227) and 87.3%(359/411), and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=22.37, P<0.01 ). The qualified rates of total bacterial count in the public appliances of hotel industry, bath industry and beauty and hairdressing industry were lower, which was respectively 76.4%(308/403), 85.4%(158/185) and 74.0% (148/200), and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=8.32,P<0.01). Conclusion The sanitary quality of public appliances in public places is generally poor,and the unqualified index is mainly total bacterial count. It is suggested that the health supervision department should strengthen management to improve the sanitary quality of public places.
