Mental health status and influencing factors of petrochemical workers in Shanghai

Abstract: Objective To investigate the mental health status and its influencing factors of front-line workers in petrochemical enterprises of Shanghai. Methods From September 16 to 31,2021,the questionnaire investigation was conducted among front-line workers(excluding administrative personnel) from five petrochemical enterprises in the Shanghai Jinshan Second Industrial Park by suing structural questionnaire through the network platform. The stress status of the subjects was assessed with the perceived stress scale(PSS-10),the assessed anxiety symptoms of the subjects were assessed with the generalized anxiety disorder(GAD-7),and the depression symptoms of the subjects were assessed with the patient health questionnaire(PHQ-9),and the data were analyzed. Results The overall incidence of stress,anxiety and depression in 1 298 workers was 24.9%,27.3% and 28.4%,respectively. The weekly working hours and average daily sleeping hours were the influencing factors of stress in workers(all P<0.05). The age,weekly working hours and average daily sleeping hours were the influencing factors of anxiety stress(all P<0.01). The age,weekly working hours and average daily sleeping hours were the influencing factors of depression in workers(all P<0.01). Conclusion The mental health status of front-line workersfrom five petrochemical enterprises in the Shanghai Jinshan Second Industrial Park is not good,and it is necessary to take targeted intervention measures based on the characteristics of work in the petrochemical industry,reasonably arrange work hours,and provide necessary psychological health services for workers.
