Status quo of career planning in nursing graduate students and its correlation with professional values and psychological capital

Abstract: Objective To investigate the status quo of career planning in nursing graduate students,explore the influence of professional values and psychological capital on career planning. Methods From February to April in 2022,210 nursing graduate students from Class 2019 to Class 2021 from six universities in Shandong Province were selected by the convenience sampling method. The investigation was performed by the nursing professional values scale,psychological capital scale and nursing career planning scale of nursing college students,and the data were analyzed. Results The total score of career planning,professional values and psychological capital of 210 nursing graduate students was (94.97±12.73),(101.75±15.07) and (115.11±16.25)points, respectively. The total score of professional values was positively correlated with the total score of career planning(r=0.454,P<0.01),and the total score of psychological capital was positively correlated with the total score of career planning(r=0.620,P<0.01). The professional values and psychological capital were the predictive variables of career planning(β=0.179, 0.497,both P<0.05). Conclusion The career planning of 210 nursing graduate students from six universities in Shandong Province is general,and students with better professional values and psychological capital have better career planning.
