Study on sleep status and influencing factors of students in a medical college in Shanxi Province

Abstract: Objective To carry out the investigation on overall sleep status of students in a medical college in Shanxi Province,analyze the factors affecting their sleep status and the correlation,and put forward the corresponding improvement measures. Methods From October 2020 to February 2021,the convenience sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 397 students of a medical college in Shanxi Province,and the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) was used to measure their sleep status,and the data were analyzed. Results The average score of PSQI among students of a medical college in Shanxi Province was (5.79±3.67)points,among which 21.7%(86/397) of students had poor sleep quality(PSQI≥8). There was statistically significant difference in sleep status among medical college students with different chronic disease conditions(P<0.05). The screen usage time before bedtime and total score of Chinese dietary balance were correlated with sleep status(all P<0.01). The chronic disease,screen usage time before bedtime and score of Chinese dietary balance were the main factors affecting sleep status of college students(all P<0.01). Conclusion The sleep status of students in a medical college in Shanxi Province is not optimistic,and sleep quality can be improved by sleep guidance,improving dietary structure and reducing the time of using mobile phone and other electronic devices.
