Abstract: Haloacetonitriles(HANs) are a kind of emerging nitrogenous disinfection by-products. HANs may pose potential threat to human health because of their cytotoxicity, neurotoxicity, genotoxicity, and carcinogenicity. HANs are widely found in all kinds of water bodies, including drinking water, swimming pool water, sewage and wastewater, and these compounds have a high concentration level. At present,HANs are still not regulated in China, and there is no standard basis for relevant testing techniques. This paper reviews the research progress in detection technology of disinfection by-products in water samples, and analyze the characteristics and applicability of various detection technologies from three aspects of sample collection, sample preparation and instrument methods,so as to provide a reference for the selection of technology.
