Abstract: Objective To explore the nursing work pressure and sleep quality of nurses in a grade-A tertiary hospital in Urumqi, analyze the effect of nursing work pressure on sleep quality. Methods From January to May 2022,319 nurses from a grade-A tertiary hospital in Urumqi were selected as the research objects. The general information questionnaire, nurse tress scale(NSS) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) were used to conduct the questionnaire survey, and the data were analyzed. Results The NSS score and PSQI score of 319 nurses in a grade-A tertiary hospital in Urumqi were (92.25±22.81) and (14.23±3.28)points,respectively. There was a significant positive correlation between the total score and each dimension score of NSS and PSQI(P>0.05),that is,the greater the nursing pressure of nurses, the more serious the sleep problem. The number of children, nursing title, working department, nature of employment and night shift frequency had significant effects on the score of NSS,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The nursing work pressure was an important influencing factor of sleep quality, which could explain 31.5% of the variation of sleep quality. Conclusion The higher the level of work stress, the worse the sleep quality of nurses in a grade-A tertiary hospital in Urumqi, and nursing managers should provide psychological and social support to nurses through a variety of strategies to improve their work stress,so as to promote their long-term health outcomes.
