Investigation on pollution of pepper and its products in Chongqing in 2020

Abstract: Objective To determine and analyze 17 substances such as sulfur dioxide,some metals,organophosphorus pesticides and pyrethroid pesticides in pepper in 12 districts and counties of Chongqing in 2020,understand the pollution status of these substances in pepper,so as to provide scientific basis for government departments to carry out food safety risk assessment and food safety supervision. Methods The pepper samples from supermarkets and farmers markets in 12 districts and counties of Chongqing were determined for 17 chemical pollutants,and the results were statistically analyzed. Results A total of 295 peppers were collected,including 145 samples of fresh peppers,the over standard rate of chromium and acephate was 2.5% and 5.5% respectively. Among 150 samples of dry peppers,the over standard rate of triazophos was 6.7%. Conclusion There were excessive chemical pollutants in pepper and its products in 12 districts and counties of Chongqing in 2020,and the market supervision should be strengthened to ensure the food safety of the people.
