Status and influencing factors of nutrition literacy of medical staff in grade-A tertiary hospitals of Wuhan City

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the nutrition literacy level and influencing factors of medical staff in grade-A tertiary hospitals of Wuhan City,provide reference for carrying out nutrition training,education and nutrition guidance for medical staff. Methods The convenience sampling method was adopted to conduct an online questionnaire survey among the medical staff in grade-A tertiary hospitals of Wuhan City,and the data were analyzed. Results The average score of nutrition literacy among 629 medical workers in grade-A tertiary hospitals of Wuhan City was (49.64±13.81)points,and the qualified rate was 24.0%. The qualified rate of each dimension score was 61.4% for nutrition concept and safety,29.9% for knowledge and eating behavior,and 17.8% for basic skills. The medical staff of surgery,eating out frequency ≥3 times per week,overweight and young age had the lower qualified rate of nutrition literacy(all P<0.05). Conclusion The overall level of nutrition literacy of medical staff in grade-A tertiary hospitals of Wuhan City is average. It is necessary to strengthen the nutrition education and guidance for medical staff to improve the level of nutrition literacy.
