Abstract: Objective To evaluate the potential health hazards of heavy metals in drinking water of Jurong City. Methods The heavy metals in drinking water of Jurong City were detected in the wet season and dry season in 2021,and the health risk caused by drinking water was evaluated preliminarily. Results The qualified rates of arsenic(As),cadmium(Cd),hexavalent chromium (Cr6+),lead(Pb),and mercury(Hg) in drinking water in Jurong City were 100.0%. The carcinogenic risk of As,Cd,Cr6+ and Pb was 2.8×10-5/a,3.6×10-5/a,5.1×10-5/a,5.2×10-7/a,respectively. The cumulative carcinogenic risk was 1.1×10-4/a. Among different population, the order of carcinogenic risk was children>adult males>adult females. The non-carcinogenic risk value of As,Cd,Cr6+,Pb and Hg was 0.063/a,0.012/a,0.020/a,0.043/a and 0.008 3/a,respectively,and the hazard index was 0.13/a. The order of non-carcinogenic risk of different population was children>adult males>adult females. Conclusions The concentrations of As,Cd,Cr6+ and Pb in drinking water of Juirong City meet the hygiene standars of domestic drinking water according to GB 5749-2006,and the cumulative carcinogenic risk is high,so it is necessary to pay more attention to the risk management of drinking water and improve the detection level. The non-carcinogenic risks of As,Cd,Cr6+,Pb and Hg are within the range of acceptable risk value recommend by US EPA.
