Moderating effect of social support on relationship between negative emotion and general well-being of medical students in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region

Abstract: Objective To understand the status of negative emotion and general well-being of medical students in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,analyze the moderating effect of social support in the relationship between them. Methods From September to October of 2020,1 512 medical students in a medical college in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region were collected by the stratified random sampling,and investigated by the general well-being scale,the social support rating scale and the positive and negative emotion scale,and the data were analyzed. Results The total score of general well-being of 1 512 medical students in a medical college in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was(85.08±10.83)points,which was above the middle level. There were significant correlations among general well-being,social support and negative emotions of medical students(all P<0.01). The results of moderating effect analysis showed that negative emotions could negatively predict the general well-being of medical students(β=-1.02,P<0.01),in which social support played a moderating role(β=-0.01,P<0.05). Conclusion The social support plays a moderating role in the relationship between negative emotion and general well-being of medical students in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,and the impact of negative emotion on general well-being decreases with the increase of social support level.
