Analysis on relationship among social support,psychological capital and job engagement of takeaway riders in Beijing

Abstract: Objective To investigate the status quo of social support,psychological capital and job engagement of takeaway riders in Beijing,and to explore the correlation between social support,psychological capital and job engagement. Methods From September 2022 to March 2023,551 full-time takeaway riders who came to our center for health examination were investigated. The self-made items related to health examination,demographic data questionnaire,social support scale,psychological capital questionnaire and job engagement scale were used for health examination and questionnaire survey,and the data was analyzed. Results The total scores of social support,psychological capital and job engagement of takeaway riders in Beijing were(48.68±8.47),(89.52±14.39) and (63.26±8.84)points,respectively. Social support and psychological capital of take away riders in Beijing were positively correlated with job involvement(r=0.407,0.432,both P<0.01),and social support and psychological capital were positively correlated(r=0.396,P<0.01).Social support and psychological capital had direct effects on job engagement(β=0.293, 0.342,both P<0.01),and psychological capital played a partial mediating role between social support and job engagement,with the mediating effect of 0.131,accounting for 30.9% of the total effect. Conclusion Social support can not only directly affect the job engagement of takeaway riders,but also indirectly affect the job engagement of takeaway riders through psychological capital,which can strengthen social support and enhance the job engagement of takeaway riders.
