Abstract: Objective To understand the regional differences and trends of health resources in Xinjiang, and provide reference for rational planning of health resources in various regions of Xinjiang. Methods The data envelopment analysis DEA model was used to analyze the efficiency of health resources in various regions of Xinjiang from 2018 to 2020,and the tobit regression model was used to explore the factors influencing the comprehensive efficiency of DEA. Results Five regions reached the strong effectiveness of DEA within 3 years, while the comprehensive efficiency values of medical and health institutions in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture and Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture was lower than 0.8,and the comprehensive efficiency values of the remaining 7 regions were all greater than 0.9. Urbanization and population density in eastern Xinjiang and northern Xinjiang had a positive impact on the allocation of medical resources, and also had a positive effect on the natural population growth in southern Xinjiang. Conclusion From 2018 to 2020,the efficiency of medical and health resource allocation in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture and Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang was relatively low, with proportion of urban population(PUP) and population density(PD) are the main factors affecting the efficiency of health resource allocation.
