Abstract: Benzene is a widely used chemical raw material and environmental pollutant, which has carcinogenic and blood toxicity. The acute benzene poisoning can cause symptoms such as paralysis of the central nervous system and even damage to DNA strands. The chronic benzene poisoning can cause leukopenia, bone marrow suppression, neurasthenia syndrome, and in severe cases, aplastic anemia and leukemia. The metabolites of benzene in urine,trans,trans-muconic acid and phenylmercaptouric acid, are biological monitoring indicators of benzene, and there are various methods for their determination. The paper reviews the research progress in the determination of trans,trans-muconic acid and phenylmercaptouric acid in urine at home and abroad in recent years, compares the advantages and disadvantages of different methods, and prospects the development prospects of the determination methods.
