Investigation on knowledge-attitude-practice of medical workers related to foodborne disease surveillance in medical institutions in Liuzhou City

Abstract: Objective To understand the current status of foodborne disease surveillance knowledge-attitude-behavior among medical worker in Liuzhou and its influencing factors,and to provide scientific basis for formulating strategies to further improve surveillance capability. Methods Stratified random sample method was used to conduct the on-site questionnaire survey in each county and district of Liuzhou from March to May 2023.The chi square test was used to analyze the current status of knowledge,attitude and practice of medical staff on foodborne diseases,multivariate analysis was used to analyze the relevant factors that affect the total score of KAP.A total of 468 questionnaires were distributed,462 were recovered,and the effective recovery rate was 98.72%. Results The total awareness rate of knowledge related to foodborne diseases was 74.2%,and the differences in awareness rates among medical staff at different levels and titles of medical institutions were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The KAP score of 462 medical personnel related to foodborne disease surveillance was (17.08±1.73)points,and there were statistically significant differences in KAP scores among medical personnel of different levels,job positions,educational backgrounds,and professional titles in medical institutions(all P<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the level of medical institutions and job positions were the influencing factors of KAP(both P<0.05). Conclusion The knowledge and diagnostic ability of foodborne disease surveillance medical personnel in Liuzhou City need to be improved,and targeted training should be carried out for medical personnel in different hospitals,job positions,educational backgrounds,professional titles,etc.
