Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between loneliness, social inclusion, stress perception, and phubbing behavior in college students,to understand the current status and mechanisms influencing phubbing behavior among college students, and provide scientific evidence for early prevention and reduction of negative impacts. Methods From March to April 2023,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 593 college students from three universities in Jiangxi Province, using the third edition Univesity of California at Losangels(UCLA) loneliness scale, social inclusion scale, stress perception scale and phubbing scale, and the data were analyzed. Results The scores of phubbing behavior, loneliness, stress perception, and social inclusion among college students from three universities in Jiangxi Province were (27.66±5.37),(44.96±7.85),(26.74±5.36),and (60.43±7.16)points,respectively. Phubbing behavior was positively correlated with loneliness and stress perception(r=0.362,0.559,both P<0.01),and negatively correlated with social inclusion(r=-0.503,P<0.01). Loneliness was positively correlated with stress perception(r=0.559,P<0.01),and negatively correlated with social inclusion(r=-0.458,P<0.01). Stress perception was negatively correlated with social inclusion(r=-0.418,P<0.01). Social inclusion and stress perception partially mediated the relationship between loneliness and phubbing behavior, with a mediation effect of 0.100 and 0.051,respectively,accounting for 41.47% and 21.29% of the total effect. The chain mediation effect of social inclusion and stress perception between loneliness and phubbing behavior was 0.008,accounting for 3.31% of the total effect. Conclusion Loneliness not only directly and positively predict phubbing behavior among college students, but also influences phubbing behavior through the independent mediating effects of social inclusion and stress perception,as well as a chain mediating effect of social inclusion-stress perception.
