Meta-analysis of the detection rate of academic burnout among nursing students in China

Abstract: Objective To understand the detection rate of academic burnout among nursing students in Chinese universities through meta-analysis,and provide scientific basis for nursing education in China. Methods PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,Wanfang database,CNKI and VIP database were searched for the studies on the detection rate of academic burnout among nursing students in Mainland China. The retrieval period was from the establishment of the database to September 2021,and the meta-analysis was carried out with Stata 11.0 software. Results A total of 26 literatures were included,with a total sample size of 16 455 people. The meta-analysis results showed that the overall detection rate of academic burnout among nursing students in Chinese was 44.83%(95%CI:31.88%-57.78%). Subgroup analysis showed that the detection rates of academic burnout in nursing students in literature published before 2014,2014-2018 and after 2018 were 23.11%,50.48% and 45.09%,respectively. The detection rates of academic burnout of nursing students in secondary vocational,vocational and undergraduate categories were 24.59%,59.30% and 39.98%,respectively. The detection rates of academic burnout of nursing students in eastern,central and western regions were 48.60%,39.63% and 43.41%,respectively. The detection rate of mild to moderate academic burnout was 31.92%,and that of severe academic burnout was 4.68%. The detection rates of academic burnout were 64.37%,33.29% and 44.79% for those with sample sizes <300,300-500 and >500. Conclusion The detection rate of academic burnout of nursing students in China is generally high,which should be paid great attention by relevant universities and education departments.
