Abstract: Objective Based on the bibliometric approach, this study aims to visualize and analyze the research literature on health education for community residents in China to understand the relevant hot spots and research frontiers in this field in a more intuitive and scientific way. Methods Retrieve research literature on health education for community residents in China from the Chinese Academic Journal Database(Wanfang Data),the Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP),and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) from 1993 to 2022.NoteExpress 3.5 software was used to count the annual number of publications and major journals related to community health education research, and CiteSpace 5.7 software was used to construct the cooperative network map of authors and institutions, forming keyword co-occurrence map, cluster map, time map and outburst word map. Result A total of 1 314 valid papers were included in this study, with the highest number of papers related to health education for community residents in China in 2012(109 articles),followed by a decreasing trend. There were few cooperative exchanges between authors in this field, and no large-scale collaboration had been formed. The research institutions were mainly regional disease control and prevention centers(CDCs) and community health service centers, and there was less inter-institutional cooperation. The study was widely published in the Chinese Journal of Health Education(89 articles).Keyword co-occurrence showed that hypertension had the highest frequency(114 frequency),and cluster analysis formed 10 tags, covering four aspects:the type of disease targeted, the population targeted, the intervention strategy, and the effect. The outburst of keywords showed that health literacy(6.599 2),community health services(4.480 1),knowledge and practice(4.106 9),influencing factors(3.541 8) and effect(3.947 9) had a high outburst degree. Conclusion The research hotspots on health education for community residents in China focus on chronic non-communicable diseases, vulnerable populations, health education models, content, effectiveness, and health manpower. Health literacy, influencing factors and knowledge, attitude and practice have become the forefront of research in recent 3-5 years, and have been further developed under the guidance of relevant policies, providing further support and suggestions for the sustainable development of health education for community residents in China.
