Abstract: Objective To investigate the status of work-family role conflict, role overload and occupational burnout of orthopedic nurses, analyze the impact of work-family role conflict and role overload on occupational burnout of orthopedic nurses. Methods Using the random number table method,174 orthopedic nurses from 10 tertiary hospitals in Shanxi Province were selected from June to December 2023 as the research subjects. The work-family role conflict scale, role overload scale and occupational burnout scale were respectively used to investigate the levels of work-family role conflict, role overload and occupational burnout. Results The scores of work-family role conflict, role overload and occupational burnout of orthopedic nurses were (63.24±12.25),(18.64±3.72) and (60.53±8.47)points,respectively. There were statistically significant differences in job burnout scores among orthopedic nurses of different age, years of work experience, professional title, marital status, average monthly income, average number of night shifts per month, and number of raised children(all P<0.05). The job burnout of orthopedic nurses was positively correlated with work-family role conflict and role overload(r=0.684,0.642,both P<0.01),and role overload was positively correlated with work-family role(r=0.586,P<0.01). The work-family role conflict and role overload could jointly explain 31.70% of the variance of job burnout of orthopedic nurses. Conclusion The work-family role conflict, role overload and occupational burnout of orthopedic nurses are at a high level, both work-family role conflict and role overload are positively correlated with job burnout, and reducing the level of work-family role conflict and role overload is conducive to reducing the level of job burnout.
