Abstract: Objective To understand the status quo and influencing factors of health information literacy of hospitalized patients with chronic diseases in Haikou City, and to analyze its influencing factors in order to better improve the level of health information literacy among patients. Methods A convenience sampling method was used to survey 291 inpatients in the internal medicine ward of a grade-A tertiary hospital in Haikou from November 2022 to April 2023,and the data were analyzed. Results The total score of health information literacy of hospitalized patients with chronic diseases in Haikou was (87.35±13.95)points,including health information cognition(14.21±2.05)points,health information acquisition(34.05±9.80)points,health information evaluation(13.40±2.12)points,health information application(12.43±2.55)points,and health information ethics(13.35±2.15)points. The scores of the five dimensions from high to low were health information awareness, health information ethics, health information application, and health information acquisition, and the lowest score was health information evaluation. All single factors were included in the linear regression equation analysis, and the results showed that gender, family residence, education level, medical payment method and the number of health education received by medical staff were the main influencing factors of health information literacy of patients with chronic diseases(all P<0.05). Conclusion The health information literacy of hospitalized patients with chronic diseases in Haikou City has the phenomenon of "separation of knowledge and evaluation",and the level of health information literacy needs to be improved. Medical staff should focus on male, living in rural areas, patients with low education level and no employee medical insurance, and carry out various forms of targeted health education and health service projects according to the characteristics of patients,so as to help inpatients with chronic diseases establish a correct health concept, establish a beneficial lifestyle, and improve the ability to identify, apply and evaluate health information, and promote the unity of knowledge and action.
