Methods In April 2024,571 nurses from a tertiary hospital in Mianyang City were investigated by the general data questionnaire, occupational calling scale, job involvement scale,work-family conflict scale and professional identity scale. The correlation analysis showed that the work-family conflict was negatively correlated with occupational calling, job involvement and professional identity, the job involvement and professional identity were positively correlated with occupational calling. The chain mediation analysis showed that the work-family conflict and occupational identity played a partial mediating role in occupational calling and job involvement, accounting for 53% of the total effect. The effect size of work-family conflict as the path was 0.030,accounting for 10% of the total effect. The effect size with professional identity as the path was 0.126,accounting for 40% of the total effect. The effect size with work-family conflict and occupational identity as the path was 0.008,accounting for 3% of the total effect. Conclusion The occupational calling of nurses is at the medium level and needs to be further improved.
